My sewing machine is completely messed up! Not cool.

It may be the universe’s way of telling me to get my butt in gear and do my research. I think I get the message but its frustrating all the same. Since our wedding two weeks ago we’ve had a lot of fun using our gift cards to buy things for our home. For me the most exciting purchase by far has been this:

Its on its way from some where in the States. Should be here within two weeks! Can’t wait to start using it.

We have some errands to run today since its the hubs day off. Enjoy your day!

Home Ec

I’m going to try to get back into this regular blogging thing! Home Ec class started today which has inspired me to make this blog look like its actually somewhat active…

So if you’ve come here from Home Ec- HI!!!!!

I’m really excited about this Home Ec class not only for the projects but for the potential of meeting some new people. I did the Art Journalling Class by Rachel and Elsie but didn’t really get involved with much of the interactive part of the class. I’m definitely going to try to do the opposite for this one!

I was going to end this post with a lame sewing pun but I resisted. You’re welcome!

10 Days Later!

So I realize I haven’t posted in 10 days! I’m in the middle of my first of two spring classes. The classes are condensed from 4 months down into 3 weeks. Its pretty intense.

However it means I will finish my degree a semester early so I’m doing what needs to be done!

I will try and post once a week or so until my classes are over and then go back to every couple of days.

And now I’m back to studying!

Art Journaling #4

Now that it’s the weekend I’ve finally found some time to catch up on my art journaling.

When reading the prompt “I want more than anything…” I had a million thoughts going through my mind. I want to be a great wife and mother. I want to be the kind of teacher that people remember for years. I want to be more creative. I want to be good at so many things. Reflecting on all my “wants” I saw that the only thing common in them is that they all require change of one kind or another. Constant changing, growing and learning in how I act and think. Bringing change to the lives of my students and possible to the education system itself (yes I have big dreams!). I have to actively pursue new skills in my creativity and therefore change myself. Woah, that got pretty deep but I just wanted to explain the “positive change” more as it encompasses so much.

*our PVR just shut itself off for no apparent reason!?!?!?! if our recordings are gone I’m not going to be happy!*

I have loved reading everyone’s “I wants”. Some of my favourites were:  “a polaroid camera”, “living without fear” and “to live outside myself”. You could probably make some sort of inspirational book with all the amazing thoughts that came out of this prompt. I’m a sucker for inspirational quotes…

*update: the PVR is fine. Phew!*

I love the picture in the corner. It came from an amazing bundle of flashcards and other goodies I found thrifting this week. Pictures of all of them and a couple other sweet finds coming soon!

The simplicity of this page was great. I sort of wish I had used a ruler and done straight lines though.

No more dogs!

I took my first yoga class last night and loved it! However, by the end of the class I swore that if I heard “Upward Dog” or “Downward Dog” one more time I was going to scream! Enough with the dogs already.

But seriously, even though I was sweaty, gross and my legs were shaking I was so glad I had gone. I’ve wanted to try yoga for a long time- it’s also one of my 101 in 1001 goals- but have never had the confidence to go. I was scared I would look stupid (I did) or be too out of shape and weak to do some of the things (I was) and laugh at inappropriate times (I did) but I felt too good afterwards to care. On another positive note I don’t feel like so much of a poser when I wear my Lululemon pants-they are the most comfy things ever!

My mom has been going to this class for about a month now and I figured if she can do it so can I! And my 45 year old mom definitely kicked my butt. She was able to do the plow and touch her feet to the ground meanwhile I couldn’t even get into the shoulder stand that you need to do before you can even put your feet behind your head. It was a sad moment in my life but I was super proud of my mom and so wished it would have been appropriate to whip out my iPhone and take a picture of her.

I can’t wait for the next class. I do want to do some yoga at home every day so if anyone has good suggestions of online videos, podcasts and especially some good yoga blogs let me know!

I want to be able to teach my students some yoga in Phys Ed (photo by Heidelknips)

I love the idea of doing Yoga outside (you know once my poses look more like this)

Boys who do yoga are sexy! (photo by Ingorrr)
Which is why I’m going to convince mine to do some!

And maybe some couples yoga. How awesome would that be?

ps. if you try and search yoga on weheartit you end up with a lot of photos of naked yoga…not so cool.

Art Journal Page Three

So I’m clearly a little obsessed with painting at the moment! I just can’t help it.

I’m going to try and use some different things other than the watercolours but no promises!

I haven’t had time to do any art journaling since Sunday but I do plan on doing some later today after cleaning the apartment.

Tuesday we had a freaking blizzard! We still have most of the snow on the ground and everything is wet and mucky and disgusting. I should be used to it after living in Northern Alberta for the last ten years but I’m not. May is not supposed to be the time you wear your mittens, hats and boots. My mom and I actually saw a snowman on someone’s lawn yesterday. Oh how I want to move to a warmer place…

Hope the weather is better where ever you are!
